CONCEPTS & TOOLS

 

It is critical that urban development concepts are translated into tangible policy tools that can be implemented by national, regional and local administrations. PDP is preparing comprehensive manuals in English and Arabic languages with policy advice and suggestions for participatory governance activities, based on the results and experiences of the participatory processes implemented in the study areas. These manuals will be distributed to the programme partners. Capacity development and training programmes will be delivered to train partners in implementing the manuals on a daily basis.

The following tables illustrate the concepts and the corresponding tools developed for urban development implementation. The concepts can be seen as a certain ‘policy strategy’, while the tools describe the concrete activities recommended in pursuing and implementing that strategy:
